Spotlight on: Breakshot Games
So, in a few sentences what does Breakshot Games Limited do?
Breakshot Games creates games specifically designed to be played between real-life friends. We create casual multiplayer games with a chilled vibe to be enjoyed with friends both near and far.
Tell us about a key moment that affected your career so far and how this has led to being at Breakshot Games?
In the classic startup sense, I was looking for games I could play with my friends even though we’re never online at the same time. When I didn't find them, I did some market research, found others had the same need, and Breakshot Games was born.
You mention on your website you are a ‘work-from-home’ company,(even prior to COVID), what is your favourite benefit for supporting remote working? And what is your top tip or resource for keeping a productive team while remote working?
I guess I should change that to 'all-remote' instead of WFH now that I'm at Better Space! I like the flexibility that remote work gives, setting your own schedule and such, and I want the team at Breakshot to have the same benefits.
My top tip for keeping a productive remote team is to be extremely specific in what needs to be done, communicate that properly and let the team do their work. Minimize distractions like emails, chat messages, etc.

What brings you to Better Space? What do you like most about the community here so far?
Having two young kids at home made WFH almost impossible. Living in Islington myself, I stumbled upon Better Space just by walking by! What I like about it here is that there really is a sense of community. I've worked at other coworking spaces - while many say they are a community not all give that impression. Here the chit-chat with the staff, knowing each other's names gives a sense of an inclusive environment.
What skills and experience have you gained in your career so far, that you’d be willing to share with aspiring games designers and startups?
That is a HUGE question. One thing I would suggest to anyone starting out is get to know as many people as you can, connect on a human level. The gaming and startup world is usually very open so don't be afraid to ask for help, advice or feedback even from acquaintances, often you'll find they'll be very helpful.
How can people support Breakshot Games? Are you recruiting at the moment? Have any opportunities to share?
