What are we doing?
Better Space is a collaborative space for purpose-driven entrepreneurs and freelancers. The community fosters both physical and digital connections to create tangible, positive social impact and aims to support local businesses in an inclusive environment where all people are welcome!
How will we do it?
Better Space is committed to provide affordable memberships to access excellent facilities, super fast internet and a network for entrepreneurial and employment support. Members will be asked to ‘give back’ some of their time to support community events to help the next generation of entrepreneurs develop skills and experience right here in Islington.
How did we get here?
Better Space is a joint venture between City, University of London and Islington Council to support the local economy and help Islington residents access enterprising opportunities.

City, University of London
City, University of London ('City') is in the heart of London and welcomes 20,000 new students each year across it’s 5 schools which focus on business and the professions. Bayes Business School (formerly Cass) was recently awarded the best MBA for entrepreneurship in the UK.
60% of City’s UK students come from under represented backgrounds and 70% come from disadvantaged backgrounds, making City a key partner in Better Space’s mission to support the local economy and create social change through education. -
City Ventures
City Ventures is the entrepreneurial arm of City, supporting it’s students to develop business ideas via the City Starter’s programmes and through to their very own Launch Lab accelerator. It runs startup seminars, hackathons, competitions, events, meetups, The Social Enterprise Festival and provides mentoring, 1:1 advice. All with close links to the Cass Entrepreneurship Fund (£10m).

Islington Council’s Affordable Workplace Scheme and strategy team will enable Better Space to offer competitive membership rates, a breadth of local connections and partnerships and help facilitate the growth of a relevant, local community in the borough. Better Space will support local job creation, innovation and social inclusion for Islington residents, whilst helping broaden wealth ownership.
