Purpose First Event series - Part 1: Decent Work & Economic Growth

In what ways can we have a social impact in our jobs and work? What can businesses, founders and the public sector do to create meaningful jobs and an inclusive economy in Islington? What can we learn from people working in this space already?

Join our panel of purpose-first changemakers to hear their perspectives on these questions and learn about the variety of careers and work opportunities that are tackling the challenges in this space.

You can expect an hour's panel discussion on our speaker's career journeys and their advice and perspectives on Purpose-first decent, work.

This event's panel includes:

Caroline Wilson, Director of Inclusive Economy and Jobs at Islington Council, Caroline seeks to ensure that economic, social and environmental justice sits at the heart of all of the council’s economic policies. Her work focuses on jobs for local people, affordable workspace for small businesses, and building wealth at a community level through its progressive business support, procurement and asset management approaches. Join us at this event to find out how Caroline came to work in this role and why!

Pranav Chopra, CEO of Nemi Teas a social enterprise and Director of Trampoline Cafe. Pranva is a passionate changemaker who's been involved in a number of ventures with a social development agenda at their core, ranging from empowering refugees by selling specialist tea in the UK (NEMI Teas) to tackling the issue of illiteracy in India through the power of tourism (Slumdog Travels). Romeo Effs, Founder and CEO of the consultancy Lumorus Plc, he works with global companies on their Corporate Governance, Organisational Health, and Leadership Journeys. Amongst many other roles, which you'll learn more about at this event, he is also Founder & President of IBRIE Foundation, which works to develop leaders amongst young people from disadvantaged backgrounds globally.

This series of in-person panel events will explore the variety of ways that we can make a living whilst creating social impact and address the problems that matter to us.

We’ll hear from start-up founders, corporate employees and civil service personnel who’ve all worked with purpose to create social impact in their areas. We’ll hear about the guest’s personal journeys; their driving purpose, their decisions, their insights and advice, before opening the floor to a Q&A and networking.
