Speak For Yourself: An Introduction to Purposeful Communication

  • Better Space 127 Farringdon Road London, England, EC1M 3HE United Kingdom (map)

This workshop will teach you the fundamental skills of presenting confidently and authentically, from managing nerves and building a positive mindset towards public speaking, to effectively using voice and body language techniques.

When we think of public speaking, our minds tend to conjure up images of stern, judgemental crowds and an overwhelming fear of forgetting what it is we have to say (not to mention nightmares of walking out onto the stage in shabby old undies).

In truth, public speaking is an act, and indeed a skill, that crops up pretty much daily for most people. Whether it's a presentation in front of your teammates, interviewing for a new job, pitching to potential partners/funders or - and this is one that's become commonplace in the past couple of years - participating successfully in virtual meetings (fear not, even the most literate of Zoom users still launch into their own monologue without releasing they are firmly on mute).

Of course there is no improvement without practice, so please note this will be an interactive session with plenty of speaking exercises - bring an open mind and a willingness to push yourself out of your comfort zone!
